More about Acupuncture (R.Ac) Practice in Ontario
Acupuncture is an alternative medicine methodology originated in ancient China that treats patients by manipulating thin, solid needles that have been inserted into acupuncture points in the skin. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, stimulating these points can correct imbalances in the Flow of Qi (energy) through channels known as "Meridians".
Acupuncture is now Regulated in Ontario as of April 1, 2013. Anyone who wishes to practice Acupuncture is required to study an Approved Acupuncture program and pass 2 Board Exams. The applicant then will obtain a Certificate of Registration from the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario(CTCMPAO).
Only those registered with the College can use the protected titles “Registered Acupuncturist” (R.Ac) or “Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner” (R.TCMP).
Ontario School of Osteopathy is one of the leaders in Alternative Medicine education in Ontario. We are proud to announce that our Acupuncture and TCM program is designed according to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Act, 2006 and the entry-level occupational competencies of the CTCMPAO.
